The first time I tried claiming my EON card was a disappointing because (1) the one who assisted me asked me why I am applying for EON card and I said I want to link it with my paypal account, she asked if it’s for online client payment, I just said yes but actually I don’t have any client yet, I just wanted to activate my paypal account for now, then she asked me for a copy of a contract (“a what?????”) I told her I don’t have any yet, she was hesitant. (2) She was asking me for a proof of billing even if it says in their website: (Note: If the address you indicated on the application form does not match the address on your ID, kindly present 1 proof of billing), I have the same address, but she insisted. (3) In the end she said she was just an employee (emergency) replacement and said she has no ID or whatsoever that she will not be able to release the card. I frankly said the she wasted my time. The second time I went there was hassle free though. She’s not around anymore.
Anyone can apply for EON debit card as long as you have all the requirements. You also have to establish your source of income. When I was claiming my EON card, I had a chance to talk to another claimant. He said he is working as an attendant to a relative’s Piso Net business. He was also doing some graphic arts online and was asked by his client to get an EON card for the payment. While his application was being processed the bank personnel asked him either an SSS or TIN number but he doesn’t have any. The bank personnel was a little hesitant to approve his application, I guess because TIN number is now required in opening accounts, but he still accepted the requirements and asked to bring the lacking requirement as soon as he can before the bank can activate his card.
