How to Renew your Driver’s License in the Philippines (five 5-year license validity) in 5 easy steps.

20161125_155259Just a head start, as of writing, according to the LTO officer where I renewed my license there are no more PVC license card available yet for new and  renewal application except for student license, and OFWs & foreigners (they are given priority). Save yourself from complaining, the people there cannot do anything, but to relay information.

Update: Those who have applied for renewal early this year, your License card is already available. Check with the branch where you had it renewed, this is only for those with 3years  validity. The 5 year validity card will be available January next year.

A quick background before we go to the steps. Renewal of Driver’s License can be done in any satellite offices as long as it suffices the conditions below, otherwise you can go to main branches.

  1. No pending cases/violations including towed vehicle, in which they would ask you to settle your dues first. My brother’s car was towed for Illegal parking and paid Php500.00 at MMDA office besides the towing service fee.
  2. No major changes. Only change of address is accepted in satellite offices. Change of restriction and change of status should be done in LTO Branches. For change of status, bring your marriage contract.

Now let’s go down to business. Here is the License Renewal Procedure the LTO way.20161125_154446

And this is the License Renewal Procedure MY way (actual experience).

Just a piece of advice: It’s best to go to mall satellites in the afternoon, I went to Ever commonwealth Q.C. at around 3:45pm. No line at all. But that time there was one customer ranting about why there’s no license card available yet, and it made the situation inside chaotic. Besides that everything went smoothly. I was out 10 minutes tops!

Step 1: I went to window 1 and told the personnel that I want to renew my license without change of  address. There’s no need for me to fill out any form, I just presented my old Driver’s License (DL).

Step 2: Still in Window 1, the personnel gave me back my DL, and a medical form to be accomplished by the Medical team, which is inside the same office. I had my eye checked. Signed a log book and paid  Php280.00 (may vary from other branches) for the eye checkup. No more drug test. I repeat, no more drug test so no need to drink a lot of water and do the messy urine collection, this is in accordance to R.A No. 10586 Section 6.

Step 3: I submitted the accomplished medical form in window 2 again and waited for my name to be called for details verification.

Step 4: I went to Window 3 afer my name was called for photo capturing and signature.

Step 5: I then proceeded to Window 4 (Cashier) and paid a total of Php802.63.

  • License Fee for five years validity      : 585.00
  • Penalty Late Ren (more than a year)  : 150.00
  • Computer Fee                                         : 67.63

(Please refer to Fees comparison below)

After paying, the Cashier gave me a receipt with  2021 expiry date, and gave back my old Driver’s License. According to Administrative Order No. 2016-034 Section 3 “In case new driver’s and conductor’s license cards are unavailable, the old/expired driver’s and conductor’s license card shall remain in the possession of the license which shall be valid until the issuance of the new card. The validity thereof shall be indicated in the O.R.. No more temporary stamp in the O.R.

Kudos to the patient and accommodating staffs of Ever Commonwealth sattelite office, hindi man lang sila nagpakita ng pagkainis!

UPDATE

I went to Ever commonwealth sattelite station last September 20 (Wednesday), hoping I can already claim my overdued fo release renewed driver’s license. Ang scenario, ang daming tao sa loob, nakapila for renewal I guess, since claiming na lang ako I approached the staff outside the staellite’s door(hindi po siya guard), just ike others are doing. While waiting for my turn, I read an announcement posted on their wall. According to that memo, those who will renew their driver’s license starting August 28 will get their license card immediately, (sorry hindi ko na picturan, na excite ako eh).

Tapos dahil bago na ang system since this September lang, kailangan nyo ulit mapicturan, mag fi-fill up (correction this should be fill out okay?) pa ulit kayo ng forms.

Ako: Ha? uulit ulit? ano yung ginawa kong pag rerenew dati JOKE LANG?

Pasencia anyone?

After I accomplished it tinawag na ko and then dere-derecho naman. Done in less than 15 minutes. On the spot kasi piniprint ang ID (based on my experience) kaya pina pa fill out nila ulit ng form. I hope you can share your experience also of what happened. Thank you for stopping by.

    1. for sure your record is still existing. You can renew it but you need to present proof of identity (government ids, valid ids, birrth cert, nbi clearance-not sure if it is required if you have ebough valid ids already.), application form and affidavit of loss-notarized.

      you also have to pay
      replacement fee: 225
      duplicate fee: 50
      certification fee: 100
      clearance fee: 30
      computer fee: 67.63
penalty fee: computed based on the expiration of your DL.

*since you’ve lost it approx. 17 years ago I think the odds are you have to take exams again. Like applying for a new one.

  7. went to ever gotesco branch last week. I want to update the cost and time of the process of that LTO branch. Medical check up is now 350 pesos. The waiting time you mentioned of not more than an hour is non-viable. I was there on 2 occasions, 9:30am and 2pm, both were packed to the brim with people and processing time took at least 4 hours. You now have papers to fill up then wait, and wait, and wait some more. The waiting time took soo long that I did my groceries and when I came back I had to still wait for 2 more hours for my name to be called. It’s like LTO took one step forward then 10 steps back. Soo frustrating.
