According to merriam-webster.com, survey means to ask (many people) a question or series of questions in order to gather information about what most people do or think about something. Surveys help companies in researching about the preferences of their target audience. Thus giving them enough information on how they will attack the market.
1. What really are online surveys?
Online surveys are used by companies to gain deeper understanding of their target customers’ opinions, preference and tastes. Like traditional surveys, it includes filling out basic demographic information such as age, gender, education level, location, etc. to complete your profile. Based on your profile, survey panels will then match your data to a survey that fits you.
2. How does it work?
You’ll get paid or rewarded on every survey that you accomplish. Simply put, it is to create a survey about a specific product, service or brand that is already existing as well as developmental ones in order to find out how consumers are reacting to it. With the use of technology today, online surveys allow companies to reach broader audience at a lower cost.
3. Are they legit?
The answer to this question is not all. There are legitimate survey panels as
well as fraud.
4. How will you know if they are legit or fraud?
This is very important, all legit survey panel will not ask you to pay anything upon registration. You just have to give them basic information as their basis to match you with their surveys. On the other hand almost always, frauds persuade you to earn a lot with a minimum membership fee. Others don’t ask for membership fee but will prompt you to other pool of survey panels, after completing their minimum payout you will be asked to do more surveys and finally download something which is usually a malware. Sounds familiar? (I’ll be talking about this in details soon!) Even though they don’t ask for membership fee the time you spent completing their requirements is already a scam. Be careful also when you are asked for bank details or credit card information. Usually survey companies pay thru Paypal.
5. Will you really gain profit for accomplishing an online survey?
The answer is YES. As I’ve mentioned in #2, you’ll be rewarded or get paid. Most survey panels gives corresponding points that is convertible to cash. Points however depends on how extensive you’re able to answer the survey. Usually if you were not able to finish the survey (which happens, don’t be upset) you only get a consolation point. It usually ranges from 1-5 points depending on which survey panel you are in. But once you completed a survey you’ll get full points allotted for that.
6. How long does survey last?
On the average full length surveys last from 25 to 40 minutes depends on how many questions you have to accomplish. If your survey is cut short it only means you are not qualified to take that survey. Please remember that companies are paying to get response from their target audience, so if you’re not one then they have the right to exclude you from their data. No hard feelings, it’s just the way it is. For example; You’re a male office worker earning a certain amount of money but don’t have a car and the survey is about cars. You may be short listed because you are a male, office worker, and earning that certain amount of money, it is possible that you’ll be invited but may not be able to finish since you don’t have a car yet the survey is about cars. Chances are the survey will be cut short. This is just one example, you will learn more as you go along.
7. How do you know if you’re their target audience?
They conduct preliminary screening and send invites to those who they think are qualified, once you’re invited it is not guaranteed though that you’ll finish the survey because there are still some screening before you can answer the survey itself. But don’t lose hope, they will come trust me! Just be patient and wait for your survey opportunity.
8. Can I leave my job and take surveys as my main source of income?
Unfortunately no, although surveys pay you for your opinions they can only be an extra source of income. Why? Because surveys are seasonal and specific, you cannot always have survey invitations everyday.
9. How to cash out?
All survey panels require minimum amount of points to cash-out, if you reach that amount then you can easily get your reward. Once you reach the minimum cash-out threshold, you may request for it immediately. Again, usually they pay thru paypal.
10. How many surveys can I answer in a day?
It depends on the number of available survey that fits you. In my experience I can only answer three surveys max. Sometimes no survey for the day.
